Police said a majority of the roads in Pascagoula are either partially or totally flooded Thursday, according to Captain George Tillman with Pascagoula police.

Despite, hazardous road conditions, Tillman said, one of the biggest problems is motorists heading outside and getting stuck as they drive over flooded roads.

“We have National Guardsmen and our officers paired up, rescuing people in flooded areas. We are seeing a lot of stalled vehicles from people, who are trying to go to the store,” Tillman said.

Pascagoula Street Streetscape Project

Pascagoula Street Streetscape Project

Work began this week on the next phase of streetscape efforts in Pascagoula, at the intersection of Jackson Avenue/Watts Avenue and Pascagoula Street. This project needed to be completed separately from the previous Pascagoula Street work due to the grant funding source. Plans are to avoid complete road closures. The estimated completion date for this project is April 15, weather permitting.

Work will begin with the contractor laying out the geometry of the improvements, and cutting the asphalt and pavement that will be affected.
