Resurrection Catholic School Holds Junior Ring Mass

On April 24th, the junior class of Resurrection Catholic School received their class rings during what is known to RCS students and families as the “junior ring mass.”  RCS holds an annual mass during which the class rings are blessed and presented to the soon-to-be seniors.

Resurrection Catholic School announces Mr. and Miss RCS of 2013.  Bay Lawrence and Ana Gonzalez, both RCS seniors, receive the honors.  Patrick Larsen (7th grade) and Morgan Seal (8th grade) are declared Junior Mr. and Miss RCS.  Mr. and Miss RCS are selected by the student body after nominations by teachers.

Jackson County students to be honored with scholarships May 7

The 23rd Explosion of Excellence will be held on May 7th at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Gautier Gymnasium.  

There will be 169 high school students in the top ten percent of their graduating classes from throughout Jackson County honored with scholarships.

Sen. Brice Wiggins of Pascagoula visited Trent Lott Academy to present a $500 check to the school. Wiggins was awarded the money for being one of the top losers in the Paul Lacoste Sports Fit 4 Change Challenge in Jackson.

Every morning at 5 a.m., Wiggins along with other state legislators and government employees met at 5 a.m. with a trainer at the Walter Peyton Recreation and Wellness Center on the Jackson State University campus for an intense high-cardio workout and training.

YouthBuild-AmeriCorps, a program of CLIMB Community Development Corporation, is partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast and its IMPACT 2013 AmeriCorps members to create a Community Garden and Play House for youth.

Gautier HS to present "Beauty and the Beast" on Friday and Saturday

Gautier High School will present Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 19-20, 2013 at Singing River Elementary Auditorium off of Gautier-Vancleave Road.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students 12th grade and younger. Tickets can be purchased at Gautier High School located at 4307 Gautier-Vancleave Road. Pictured are Madison Tynes as Belle and Adam McMahon as the Beast.
